CHASE INTERNATIONAL’S SLT OFFICE TAKES HOME REALTOR AWARDS

Barbara Childs Honored as Realtor of the Year

Chase International agents stood out at the South Tahoe Association of Realtors (STAR) installation and awards dinner when Barbara Childs was honored with the Realtor of the Year Award and Doug Clymer was bestowed with the Distinguished Service Award.

The award brought Childs full circle within the association, as she was named Rookie of the Year in 2001. She has served as the chair of the educational committee, sat on the board of directors and just completed a term as board president. Childs is noted for leading the organization through tumultuous economic times.

“It’s a tough time out there for everyone. I just try to keep everyone focused on what we have instead of what we don’t have. We need to keep a positive mindset for our clients and fellow realtors. We will move through this.”

Childs has been with Chase International since 2001 and is also the president elect of the American Association of University Women and sits on the board of the Tahoe Resource Conservation District. She will continue to serve STAR as immediate past president where she will be in charge of new member orientation.

“I was left speechless by the honor,” Childs said. “Recognition from your peers is the strongest feedback you can get.”

Clymer, who has received awards for distinguished service in the past, was recognized for his keeping members abreast of MLS (multiple listing services) listings. Clymer has been working with MLS since 1991 and works diligently to stay on top of evolving technology and rules and regulations. He recently completed his term as STAR’s MLS chairperson.

“Doug has been networking with leaders from across the nation and kept members very involved in key decisions,” Sharon Kerrigan, executive vice president of STAR, said. “And Barb did an incredible job as a leader. She’s very good at bringing people together and passionate about long-term and strategic planning. She was the obvious choice among her peers. They’re both amazing volunteers.”

The January 8 dinner also included the installation of Chase’s Jim Wire and Judith Hanson to the board of directors. Wire is a returning board member. Hanson will also serve as the new MLS chairperson.

“These agents are a stellar example of Chase International’s dedication and professionalism,” said Shari Chase, founder and CEO of Chase International. “They’re leaders in the community and the industry and they make this company what it is.”
