Winning the contest is huge for the area as it brings great publicity, substantially increasing the number of visitors. Rumors have been rumbling for months, and last information sounded like all bets off. However, it was announced on Friday that Squaw Valley/USA has purchased The Village from Intrawest. This includes the commercial/retail promenade along with the lodging business for the condominium units above. The acquisition should enhance guest experience at the resort, which is enjoying booming ski days with around 18,000 season passes sold for 2009-2010.

According to an article posted by The Sacramento Bee, in a survey of 197 people, 49 of them were kept from getting a home, bank account or job due to mistakes on their credit report. The article also states that by Experian’s own admission, that 50 percent of all credit reports contain errors. Although these errors may not lead to disqualification, they may result in increased interest rates and higher payments.

The Home at Last Program Is a Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program that provides a dollar-for-dollar federal income tax credit equal to 20% (for loans over $190,000) or 30% (for loans under $190,000) of the interest paid on a mortgage loan. This credit is given to the homebuyer every year as long as they live in the home. This tax credit will provide an estimated annual savings of $2,000 a year per household.
