Interests (other)
I am passionate about foreign travel - the more foreign the culture, the more fascinating. I began an import business from Bali, Thailand, Malaysia , Burma, Singapore, Hong Kong and China in the mid 80's. My favorite part of our trips was the repeated interaction as we became close with individuals and families with whom we would visit year after year. More recently, I have been fortunate to collect and contribute reading glasses and soccer shoes to school children following a trip last year to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. I am currently packing a box of reading glasses for The Pgymies in Uganda - I haven't been to Africa yet, but I am living vicariously through my friend's project and I can't wait to see the pictures!
Favorites (restuarants, resorts, whatever)
Favorite Cities: Paris (of course) and Luang Prabang, Laos

New Low Mortgage Rates Out of Reach for Some

Posted on December 9, 2008 at 4:02pm 1 Comment

I thought the following article posted on RisMedia, an online real estate magazine, an interesting companion piece to Sue Lowe’s article yesterday concerning the lower interest rates. The lower rates are great ~ but qualifying for these lower rates may be difficult.

RISMEDIA, Dec. 9, 2008(MCT)-Many of the would-be borrowers who have bombarded mortgage lenders with phone calls since interest rates dropped last week are finding they don’t qualify for loans.

Credit standards remain… Continue

2009 May Hold Increased Activity in Real Estate

Posted on December 4, 2008 at 8:41am 0 Comments

This optimistic forecast is from in Real Trends, a real estate related newsletter:

In a survey conducted last month, more than two thirds of identified homebuyers said they've held off buying a home because of the overall economic condition. However, approximately five percent of consumers said they plan to buy a home in the next 12 months, about three times the percentage that actually bought this year, and another 17.7% plan to buy a home in one to five years from now. "While… Continue
