I am a Realtor in the wonderous state of Alaska. I live in Seldovia, which is near the tip of the Kenai Peninsula, only accessible by boat or plane. I was invited by a member who owns property here in Seldovia, to join this group to offer an avenue to Alaska for anyone that is interested in exploring a lifestyle change or investment opportunities.
Alaska has been affected by the housing issues in the lower 48 in that many potential investors have lost confidence in the economy as a whole. Overall, our housing market is strong, however, in some areas we are seeing the values adjust from the very strong growth we've seen in the last few years.
Alaska is a very special place, and it continues to be so, as folks move away from the urban life to a quieter, simpler way of living - that is something they can still find here.
Seldovia is a beautifully situated town, nestled on the waterfront of Seldovia Bay. In a town of only 300 year round residents, this is a quiet life where you can enjoy the natural beauty of Alaska. Eagles, otters, black bear and the best halibut and King Salmon fishing is here to enjoy and treasure.
Our family moved from Fairbanks to this much more temperate climate to enjoy the benefits of stepping back in time. Here in Seldovia, everyone knows your name, and most of us walk, boat or ride our 4 wheelers anywhere we need to go! Which is a great thing with gas prices over $4 a gallon! Our three kids enjoy riding 4 wheelers to school, walking to the local Boys & Girls Club or swimming lessons. In the summer months, the kids go camping, hunting, hiking, biking and lots and lots of fishing, for King Salmon, Jacks and Halibut. It was a great move for our family!
If you are looking for property that is still reasonably priced, and views and waterfront are important, Seldovia has many great opportunities still available! Alaska at its finest!
Travel is a part of me, who I am, and what I love. As a French language major, I enjoyed many opportunities touring, schooling, working and living abroad. I love to read, go for walks with my kids, learning to exercise (hmm.....) and be outdoors. After living in Hawaii, I miss the warm air, and I am always looking for great investment opportunities to get me and my family back in the sun! I truly enjoy crafting and creating, when I make the time.
