Tahoe Donner in the Summer

With the winter season fading away and spring blowing in, we in Truckee start making our summer plans. And Tahoe Donner offers no better staging platform in the Truckee area for the plethora of activities and fun to be had by all. Those of us that own and live in Tahoe Donner, whether we are full-time or part-time, know what the neighborhood has to offer in the summer. There's day camps and swim lessons for the little ones, and the Trout Creek and Northwoods pools are a popular "hang" for moms and dads with all the children in tow. There's the tennis courts, the miles of hiking/running trails, bingo at the Northwoods clubhouse, a music event organized by the Lake Tahoe Music Festival, and for an enjoyable dining experience, the Lodge, located on Tahoe Donner's 18-hole golf course, offers an upscale menu. Tahoe Donner neighborhood even houses a small private school, the Custom Learning Academy, owned and managed by educator extrodinaire, Lisa Crosby.

One amenity I can must not fail to mention is the Tahoe Donner Beach located on beautiful Donner Lake. Our private beach is positioned at the east end of the lake, directly next door to the Donner Memorial State Park and Camp Ground. This beach location offers sail boats, paddle boats and kayaks for rent. They also have a grill and snack bar. One of our favorite summer family activities that we enjoy are BBQs in the evening on the beach, after all of the day's hoopla has gone home-----and the sun setting over Castle Peak and Donner Crest always reminds me of how fortunate I am to be here.

And although some of us are still enjoying the "ego snow" spring corn snow delivers, we also have our sites set on summer-----another reason and season we choose to live the good life in Truckee!!!
