Voice of Reno-Tahoe Real Estate

I lived in Hawaii for 32 years and friends from the mainland would often say, "Hawaii is beautiful ..but don't you get rock fever?" As in Lake Tahoe, with all the year-round activities and natural beauty, I enjoyed each and every day in the islands to its fullest. There is a special place in Hawaii that I love and most tourists don't know about ...a small inlet beach right next to Blow Hole. To get there, drive toward Hawaii Kai and Hanauma Bay. About a mile past Hanauma Bay, on the right, is the parking lot for Blow Hole. On the right hand side of the parking lot, looking over the low rock wall that circles the lot, you will spot the small inlet bay. There is a fairly steep trail that leads down to the bay which is probably about 100 feet below the parking lot. Watch for rough waters when you swim or snorkel here. It's a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch on a sunny afternoon...

I have visited this site and did not realize that this little beach existed - thanks for sharing. What beaches would you recommend on the North Shore?

Waimea Bay is a popular choice for surfing and boogie boarding. Parking here can be a zoo on the weekends. World class surfers still head to pipeline in the winter, January-March. Another beach that I would recommend is further south, on the windward side - Lanakai. This is an upscale residential area, with a beautiful white sandy beach. It is located next to Kailua... past Kailua beach. Kailua Bay is a popular spot to learn kite-surfing and wind-surfing.
