Voice of Reno-Tahoe Real Estate

After living in the Bay area for 21 years, my husband and I moved to Incline Village for 2 reasons; better quality of life and to save on income taxes. We still maintain a home in our beloved wine country and still enjoy spending time in the Bay area. Being a short, and I might add, a beautiful drive, it's always fun to go kick up our heels, explore new areas, eat (of course), but then we're ready to get out of traffic, and return to our home in Incline Village. I can see why so many people own property in the Tahoe basin. It's a welcome release to the fast pace of the Bay area, you can actually get ahead financially with good tax planning in Nevada, and I often meet people who are able to work from their home at the Lake and check in with their Bay area office once or twice a month. Talk about the best of both worlds. So, what brought you to this jewel we call Lake Tahoe? What's your story?

i'm just wondering about the cost of living difference... how much more expensive is gas, heating, electricity, groceries and other basics compared to the bay area? whenever i visit, things seem more expensive because they had to be shipped to the mountains. beyond not paying state income tax, are there other savings? or does the added expense of all elements balance out in the end?
