Artown kicked off on July 1st. For those of you who can make it to Reno, the entire month of July celebrates the arts in the area. I watched dancers on stilts called Flexion perform Monday night. Unusual, but entertaining.
One of the galleries I participate in, Artists Co-Op Gallery on 627 Mill St., is hosting the 6th Annual Fine Art Show for the Nevada Rock Art Foundation. It is our biggest show of the year featuring over 140 artists from various mediums including gourds, paintings, metal sculptures, pottery, jewelry and much more.
The Nevada Rock Art Foundation's principle objectives are to document rock art sites that are at risk and work to conserve and ensure the integrity and future protection of all Nevada Rock Art sites. For those of you unfamiliar with the NRAF, I believe Shari Chase still serves as Vice President, with Craig serving on the Board.
A "meet the artist" reception will be held on Sunday, July 6th from 11am-4pm.
